About me
Hello,
and welcome to my website, which aims to change your perception of reading. I would like to remind you about the mental capacities you have. I will encourage you to think critically and change. Take a look at your habits of reading in the new way. Good knowledge pushes people to improve their skills. Here you will learn plenty of new fascinating things. My aim will be achieved if you understand how much more abilities you have and if you start practicing them.
In addition to the way of reading we are used to, there exists an alternative one. I will present speed reading to you, give advice and suggest exercises for practice. The more you practice, the better the results will be. Just think: it is hardly possible to learn sports only by reading descriptions of exercises and having a perfect schedule of the training. The gym has to be modern and well equipped, the trainers have to be the best specialists. But what the results would be like, if you never visited the gym? And even if you did, would there be any enthusiasm left after a couple of heavy-practice weeks? It would seem that you try so hard without achieving any results. Speed reading is just the same - a lot of effort is necessary before the first results are appear. But when you master this skill you’ll be happy for the rest of your life.
Learn how to use the advice you find here, and it will bring you benefit. Do not forget the good old rule - simplicity is perfection. The champions are born in the regular practice, not in the grand contests.
Speed reading is the inspiration for the new experience and new ways of thinking. Naturally, brand-new things seem strange and unusual. But changes in our life are inevitable. After all, why should we stick to the same attitudes and beliefs forever? I suppose you are learning all your life and the things you find here will have a practical use. I just ask you not to try making everything perfect from the beginning. Start with “good” at first, then continue with “very good” and only then try to make it “perfect”. Otherwise, everything will end up “just wrong”.
We are not able to run if we do not know how to crawl. Thus, at first I would like you to learn how to use speed reading for the simple and popular texts. Anyhow, those are the ones we read most frequently. Let’s agree that the text I usually have in mind is a fiction of average complexity. You can take more complicated texts only when you master the fast reading of easy texts. Reading is very individual, therefore, it is impossible to mention all the nuances and details objectively. It does not mean that the author is not aware of them; yet the primary aim is to present the speed reading to you. What is it, how it works, why it works, etc.
My name is Aivaras. I’ve been running speed reading courses in Lithuania for a couple of years. I’ve got great teacher with 30 years of experience and I can speed read myself. Last year was quite busy as I had classes almost every Saturday. During my practice I’ve collected many practical experience that I want to share with you. I’m not going to write about the basic things that you might know by now if you've been a little bit interested in speed reading. I would like to share some fresh ideas that I’ve discovered and noticed. I would say that speed reading development has experienced long stagnation and that everything revolves around the same ideas and concepts.
In order to move forward we have to change some paradigms. I am also tired of worthless information and useless advice about speed reading. Sometimes when I read a “new book” about speed reading I feel like I’ve got “new junk” information. So I’m going to introduce you with 99 new and fresh ideas about speed reading that you won’t find anywhere else. I don’t promise you will read faster, because it can be done only on one-to-one session not through books, software or audio books. And that’s the first idea.
“You can't learn it by yourself” or if you try you won't get the results you’ve been promised to get. Why? A class I teach usually has 10-15 people and each time I meet 1-3 people in the group who read lots of books, who had bought software, tried practice and failed. Haven’t I heard success stories? Yes, I have. Some guys doubled or even tripled their speed. But that’s all. The greatest speed of a self-educated student is about 500 WPM. But why none of them was able to exceed that limit? I’ll write about that later. Self learners don’t have the methodology or the perspective view and there are many things that you discover after long lasting practice.
Talk to you soon,
Aivaras
