Constructive text
More than half of the words in the text have the constructive role, that is, they are only mediators between the words, which generate ideas. The major part of the text, which we read, could be called decoration of ideas, but not the ideas themselves.
This text slows down our reading. This is not the disadvantage of the text; conversely, the source of shortcoming is our inability to recognize constructive text and move forward faster, focusing on the main ideas only.
Constructive text is a framework for the main ideas. That is the text we can avoid; it has little connection with the meaning. It can also be called a ballast, as it slows down the pace of reading. We should only skim it through, picking up only the main ideas.
Exercise: try to read the text and recognize, how much of it is constructive?
Let’s start from the simpler one. Remember, I mentioned that the major part of the text has constructive role. Look through the couple of pages of the different text. Take a book, a magazine, browse the internet. Search for the keywords to help you understand what the topic is about. Try to calculate a percentage, what amount of the text is important, and what is only constructive.
