How to develop photo memory?
People on seminar constantly are asking about photo reading. And how to photo scan one page quickly and to remember everything even with smallest details. There is one book on this subject by Paul Scheele „Photo reading Whole Mind System“.As soon as I finish this book review I let you now. But sadly in this book I haven’t found down to practice exercise. That’s why I’ll give you some exercises to do. Photo memory is nothing more then increased visual awareness. When you constantly remind for your brain that you might need visual information they start pay more attention to what they „see“ and “scan” environment in more detailed approach. So basically you have to train your brain in order to develop unconscious habit.
What to do?
Start recalling visual information. Recalling is the most beneficial process for your photo memory. Recalling is then you push yourself to recover images in your mind. Close your eyes scan the environment you are in for 2-4 seconds. Close your eyes and try to recover everything you saw. You might scan everything that is on your table or go to window and scan everything you see out there. For the first be
ginning I expect you to recall 4-6 items. After doing more and more practice quantity should go up to 10-15 items including colors, more detailed shapes, distances between items etc. Do this exercise as often as you can. Soon you will notice that you remember pieces of written information more easily say addresses, prices, labels and you won’t miss sugar – bowl in the kitchen again. Practice with car numbers while sitting in the traffic jam. Find old coloring – book. It’s full of pictures. One page usually contains no more then 10 objects. All objects are simplified without necessary details also they are fun and easy to remember. Go page after page. Try to recall 5 or 10 pages. Go further. Try to recall all coloring - book. Also try to shorten the scanning time to one blink. Glance at a picture for millisecond - close your eyes - recover – glance again for another millisecond – renew the picture with more details.
To noticeable results your training should last three – four week working 15 - 30 minutes a day. If done less you won’t get a feeling of changes. Same exercise applies to book, charts or any visual data scanning. During my long research I found this exercise the most helpful in photo memory training. If you know something what works better, please, drop me a line. But I am almost sure that it could be various this exercise variations.
