What age is the best to start speed reading?
One of the frequently asked questions is when is the right time to start learning speed reading? I would suggest starting it from 13 -14 years of age. At this age the vocabulary is relatively broad and the child is motivated for such knowledge.
The most important task is to understand the text a person is reading, since otherwise no logical meaning will be given to the sentences. The same fits to the reading in foreign language. In order to understand the main ideas of the author, one has to have a good vocabulary.
Older people have difficulties adopting speed reading, as they have been using the old habits of reading for the whole life. The stronger the habit, the more complicated is to replace it. Adults want to succeed from the first trial, since they are grown ups. They are smart and believe they know and can everything. However, if they fail from the first, second time, they ask for another “magical methodology”.
